After the fall of the Repliforce and the events which coincided, the world was left badly damaged and in a minor state of panic. The Maverick Hunters constantly worked to repair the damage. One fateful day heavy maverick activity was detected at the statue in the middle of Central City. X and Zero investigate only to be ambushed by an unsuspected living Sigma. In defeating the seemingly immortal monster, the Maverick Virus now knows as the “Sigma Virus” was spread forth around the world, infecting and staining the lands.

This was the most critical situation to date and in a matter of hours, many reploids went totally haywire. To make matters worse, a freelance bounty hunter known as “Dynamo” was hired by Sigma to issue the fall of the space colony, “Eurasia” onto the earth to complete the infection and mass destruction of the planet.

X and Zero along with the rest of the maverick hunters scramble to stop the plummeting space colony with what little functioning resources they have left. In sixteen hours, the fate of many will split down long and winding roads.
