A new golden age has spawned after the seemingly successful destruction of Sigma. Reploids are now aided in protection from the “Maverick Virus” with new technology created by a brilliant reploid scientist, Dr. Doppler. A utopia was built known as “Doppler Town”.

However many reploids in Doppler Town began going berserk, for there seemed to be an error in the program Doppler created. As a result, the doctor was held accountable for the havoc. A revived Zero and X were dispatched to subdue the rampaging reploids but were shortly called back to HQ due to a massive assault from Doppler’s forces. X and Zero are skeptical about Doppler’s tyranny and set out to see who is pulling the strings.
